Ben Mikesell first picked up a camera in the 8th grade, when his journalism teacher chose him to take pictures at a middle school football game. From there, he purchased a camera with the help of relatives and carried that through high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
 
He is a recent graduate of Indiana University, where he graduated with a journalism degree and specializations in photojournalism and graphic design. He’s currently in his first year working as a photographer with The Goshen News in northern Indiana.
 
Duties include daily photos, videos and long-term projects for use in print and online.
 
Previous experience includes marketing for Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In college he spent four years taking photos at the Indiana Daily Student, and had photo internships with IU Athletics, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne.
