Peter Simon currently serves as the Multimedia Team Lead for the Boy Scouts of America National Service Center in Irving, Texas. The team produces turnkey video, digital stills, webcasts. podcasts and eLearning modules in support of the organization’s mission to develop leadership, fitness, character and citizenship in youth.

Simon has spent more than 35 years writing, producing, directing and editing video projects. He began his career as a videotape editor in the news department at WFAA-TV, Dallas, Texas, in 1978, where he progressed to becoming the show producer for the station’s local version of PM Magazine, one of the first human interest storytelling television programs. He wrote and produced more than 140 stories for the broadcast, many of which aired nationally.

He then spent eleven years in the oil and gas industry, producing safety and training video content, followed by five years with a startup focused on delivering interactive learning experiences via a ruggedized computer on drilling rigs.

He joined the Boy Scouts in 2007 and believes working for a mission instead of profit with the same skill set to be a privilege.

Simon considers himself a lucky man.
